On translation

Every conversation on this site began in Chinese, on WeChat, between me and a client. What you read is a translation, and I would rather tell you exactly how it was made than let you assume.

How it is done

The screenshots are read by a machine, which transcribes each message and records who said it. A second pass translates the thread into English and writes the title and summary. I then read the result and correct it. The gilt-outlined chip that says Translated by AI appears on every page that went through this, which is all of them.

What the machine is not allowed to do

The screenshots were masked before they were ever posted — names, avatars, birth details. Where a mask covers text, the translation says [redacted] and stops. Nothing under a mask is reconstructed, inferred or filled in. If a line reads [redacted], neither I nor the machine is telling you what was there.

Where it is still imperfect

Divination language does not move cleanly between languages. 梅花易数 has no English name anyone searches for, so this site calls it I Ching divination, which is close but not exact. 八字 is given as BaZi with the Four Pillars of Destiny alongside it. Terms like 贵人 become "a person who helps", which loses something real.

Under each translated line there is a button that shows the Chinese original. If you read Chinese, read that instead. It is the source, and it is what I actually said.

The ones I got wrong

Some of these readings did not come true. Those are published too, with the same chip and the same original underneath. A record that only keeps the hits is not a record.
